One of my favorite Organic restaurants in Miami, Lilikoi in South Beach rolled out pints of various flavors of vegan ice cream. I naturally love ice cream but don't eat dairy as cow products tend to create mucous in the body, not to mention are usually filled with lot's of processed (white sugar). Whenever I see a new product at a healthy spot I love to try it out. This particular flavor I got was Maca + Cacao. Usually vegan ice creams are based in coconut or a nut like almonds or cashews instead of the usual dairy. I really loved this particular blend they created as it tasted similar to the real deal. The point is you don't always have to give up your love for certain things. Often times there are better options that are equally if not even tastier than the ones you are used to. Your body will thank you for choosing less processed ingredients and staying away from the dairy. No matter where you live you can check out your local healthy spots or grocery stores such as Whole Foods for some different options until you find the right fit for you!

Spring Berries
It's berry season and your body will love you for munching on them as berries contain a broad spectrum of nutrients. Don't fret as berries are very low in sugar. Try choosing ones that are local and or organically grown, many people are not aware that berries are one of the top pesticide foods known as "the dirty dozen."
I truly believe eating different colors gives you more of a variety when it comes to health benefits. Try choosing blackberries, blueberries + raspberries as they each pack a different nutrient punch that your body will love. Check out the Coconut Grove Farmer's Market for some of Miami's best local produce.
Think about adding berries to a smoothie, fresh organic yogurt or granola for a snack or healthy breakfast. I know they taste good just eating them directly from the package!
